NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT:
TTA was appointed as consultants for the design, implementation and project management of CCTV urban surveillance cameras in and around the Claremont area in Cape Town. This installation will form part of the existing CCTV system being operated by the Cape Town Metro Police Department.
TTA will compile the required tender documents, manage the tender process and evaluate and write the necessary recommendation reports. After the appointment of a successful contractor, TTA will project manage the implementation of the contract, ensuring that it is completed within the time frame required and within budget. The most cost effective solution to connect to the existing control room has been investigated and the new cameras will be integrated seamlessly into the existing system, allowing for future expansion to occur.
The new CCTV cameras will be installed, either on masts or buildings, between Mowbray and Wynberg, mostly along Main Road. The video feeds will be transmitted by either CoCT IT Dept. fibre
optic cables or wireless transmission to the closest fibre connection from where it will be connected onto the existing CCTV head end equipment. The footage from the cameras shall be transmitted to the TMC control room in Goodwood where it will be monitored and stored.
