NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT:
This project involved the transportation from N1 House to the new Traffic Management Centre (TMC) in Goodwood of the Strategic Surveillance Unit (SSU) CCTV Surveillance Control Room. The transfer of other systems that were coordinated included the Integrated Rapid Transit (IRT) system, the Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system, the GEM Disaster Management system, along with the City’s Alarm and Radio Systems.
Another important component of the move was moving the networked digital video recording and reconfiguring the network switches. This equipment is connected to the fibre optic cable linking the TMC with the Cape Town’s fibre backbone. Communication over this link between the TMC and the rest of the network was then tested.
Each of the consoles used by the SSU to conduct CCTV surveillance was successfully moved to the TMC without a minimal amount of down time. The new Control Room has been designed to allow for future expansion of the system.
DESCRIPTION OF ACTUAL SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE FIRM:

Control Room at N1 House to the new TMC, Goodwood.
